Davies Turner is a family-owned freight forwarding company and one of the leading independent logistics companies in the UK. The company was founded in 1870 and has remained in the same family’s ownership since its inception. It now has 19 branches and 850 employees nationwide.
The company prides itself on its long-serving team, many of whom have spent decades within the business. This deep-rooted loyalty and stability have helped Davies Turner build and maintain its reputation as one of the UK’s leading providers of freight and logistics services that underpin the UK’s supply chain and visible international trade, but also meant that its financial systems had remained largely unchanged for many years .
Davies Turner needed a new finance solution to replace its existing software. A bespoke, in-house system built on an IBM AS/400 platform, it had served the company well, but could not deliver the visibility, reporting power and compliance needed for a modern logistics company.
When a new Finance Director joined the business, modernisation became a strategic priority. Moving Davies Turner’s financial management onto a modern, integrated ERP platform meant that business growth would be supported, and that the business would have a “single source of truth” for its financial data.
Davies Turner chose NoBlue2 to implement Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance because it demonstrated a deep understanding of both the product and Davies Turner’s financial requirements. They presented the system clearly and credibly through highly experienced professionals.
Crucially, the individuals who led the sales and demonstration process were the same people who went on to form the core implementation team, which provided confidence in their accountability and ability to deliver on their promises. Their practical experience, clear communication, and consistent involvement throughout the process reduced implementation risk and ensured a smooth transition from selection to delivery.
We provided Davies Turner with a scalable cloud-based solution that would meet the group’s multi-company financial needs and would also integrate with its existing operations systems.
Finance module rollout – we implemented the following solutions across all seven financial entities simultaneously – a coordinated, group-wide rollout achieved after extensive testing and preparation:
Integration with legacy systems – the implementation covered the financial side of the business, so had to integrate with the operations systems. We built bespoke integrations to enable seamless integration and MS Dynamics now receives approximately 10,000 transactions a day from the operations systems.
Clean data migration – NoBlue2 provided templates and guidance to help Davies Turner cleanse and migrate decades of financial data from its AS/400 system into Dynamics 365.
Bespoke reporting – Finance data was trapped in legacy formats, making real-time analysis and consolidated reporting difficult. MS Dynamics 365’s flexibility has allowed Davies Turner to design highly customised reports, built to its exact specifications, that reflect the financial requirements of the company’s complex organisation.
Davies Turner has successfully transitioned from its legacy systems to a modern, integrated financial platform, bringing with it a host of benefits including:
As a result of our partnership, Davies Turner is now equipped with a modern finance system that delivers real-time insight, efficiency and a solid platform for future growth.
